The Museum of Woodcarving in the center of Crete and at the foot of Psiloritis is a permanent collection of the sculptor Georgios Koutantos. It operates both as a Museum and Laboratory at the same time and is the result of twenty years of sculpturing. The grand opening of the Museum took place on March 14, 2010. More specifically in Axos Mylopotamos, one hour from the cities of Rethymno and Heraklion, in the natural environment, in a two-storey newly built space of 300 sq.m. are exhibited, more than a hundred sculptures, all handmade artworks, from a hammer and a chisel.
