Agios Ioannis Theologos in Galatas

The Church of Agios Ioannis Theologos is located outside the village of Galatas in Crete, Greece, near the Minoan Palace of Galatas in the Drakonero area. It is a Byzantine-era, two-aisled church with a surviving arkosolio (Venetian tomb monument) likely belonging to the church’s founder.

The church’s frescoes are unfortunately in very poor condition. Near the church, there is a well with water and the foundations of what may have been monastic cells, suggesting the site was once a monastery.
