The Greek-German Youth Foundation co-funded a successful Greek-German expert meeting on “Biographical Approaches to Historical Memory” in Athens from June 14-17, 2024. The meeting aimed to prepare for upcoming youth exchanges and small-scale projects on historical memory. Participants visited sites of historical significance in Athens, including the former Gestapo headquarters and the Kaisariani Shooting Range, and engaged in workshops on history, memory, and stereotypes.
The program also featured discussions with experts in historical memory and oral history. Exploratory contacts for future program activities were made with various individuals and organizations, including the developing platform of “GeoTour” (www.geotour.gr).
The meeting was supported by several organizations, including the social cooperative “NEFELAIΩΝΑΣ ΚΟΙΝ.Σ.ΕΠ.” and the “Ecological Workshop of Kaisariani.” Future activities within the program, including youth exchanges and small-scale projects, are currently being planned and will be announced in the coming months.
