The Crete Festival 2024 is proud to present a special parallel event, “Women Meet the Crete Festival,” dedicated to celebrating the modern woman and her contributions to culture and the arts. This unique event will take place from August 21st to October 26th, showcasing a diverse range of female talent in theater, music, dance, and cinema. Through their art, these women will engage in a dialogue with the audience, addressing important themes such as women’s rights, equality, and social justice.
The festival kicks off on August 21st with a captivating concert by Martha Frintzilla titled “Recital – Stories for the Soul,” held at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. The grand finale will be the theatrical performance of “AMULET” by Roberto Bolaño at the Experimental Stage of the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion on October 26th.
This initiative, as announced by the Vice-Regional Governor for Culture and Equality, Gogo Milaki, and the Festival Director, President of the Regional Council of Crete, Vagelis Zacharis, aims to create a dedicated space for women’s artistic expression and creativity. It provides a platform for women to connect with the public, raise awareness about their rights and struggles, and gain greater visibility for their work.
