Anopolis, Sfakia, invites everyone to the 40th annual Cretan Graviera Cheese Festival on Tuesday, August 15th, 2024. Starting at 9:00 PM, this vibrant celebration of Cretan culinary heritage features a feast of traditional Sfakian delicacies, including “vrasto” (boiled goat), pilafi, “sfakiano yahni” (Sfakian stew), stifado, salads, cheeses, honey, and of course, an abundance of wine. Live music by Miltiadis Varouchakis and his band will set the stage for a night of revelry, while the Mousicohoritikos Syllogos Sfakion “Ta Sfakia” will showcase traditional dances.
A Tribute to Tradition
Anopolis, renowned for its long-standing cheese-making tradition and numerous “mitata” (traditional stone cheese-making huts), proudly presents this festival to honor the Cretan Graviera, a PDO cheese that holds a special place in the hearts and palates of Cretans.
